Postnatal Care

We offer our new born babies and their mothers a 6 week check as close to 6 weeks as we can.  We register new babies on our system when we receive the hospital discharge informing us of the birth. We will then arrange the 6 week check and write to you with the appointment details. This is because the appointment needs us to coordinate a visit with the practice nurse and the doctor at the same time for both mum and baby so it is not easy to arrange on the phone.

On rare occasions where we are unaware of the birth, please feel free to give us a call and arrange an appointment.

Once completed, you can book appointments with the nurse for your baby’s vaccinations. Please read our childhood immunisations page for more information.

During your postnatal care you will find out about feeding, potty training, illnesses, safety and more. You will be able to ask your health visitor questions and request advice.
